For our new autumn season Jazz Café POSK welcome’s back this first rate and brilliant group of musicians in a special evening celebrating the music of some of the great Big Band leaders.
Way Out West presents a programme of classic big band repertoire from Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, Woody Herman, Thelonious Monk, Billy Strayhorn, Thad Jones and Tadd Dameron.
Not cut-down big band scores but groups of various sizes improvising around great themes like Take The A Train, I Mean You, Manteca, Caravan, A Child Is Born, Early Autumn, Shiny Stockings, The Scene Is Clean and Four Brothers.
Way Out West is a unique collective of jazz musicians. Diverse improvisation, performance, arranging, composition, all come to the forefront in full force within weekly gigs, as each collective member presents collaborations of their work with guest stars from today’s jazz scene.
Seasonal blasts include Way Out West appearing together for All-star evenings.
