Renato D’Aiello Quartet: Back to London concert - celebrating Cedar Walton and David Hazeltine’s music!
Renato says: this marvellous band comprised of four highly talented and sensitive musicians will take you on a beautiful trip exploring various musical landscapes.
The music of Cedar Walton is rooted in jazz but is also influenced by Latin music, which offers a great combination of grooves and melodies to the listener.
The compositions are wonderful, and the harmonic structures are suitable territory for improvising and creating some beautiful atmospheres.
The band is passionate about Cedar Walton’s and Hazletine’s music and looks forward to sharing great moments with the audience.
Renato D’Aiello become known as one of the strongest and most original saxophone sounds around. His treatments of jazz standards, and originals, both live and on recordings, have won him a great admiration from audiences and the press. Renato studied with masters such as Sal Nistico, Tony Scott, Steve Grossman, and Joe Henderson.
He played with great jazzmen like: Eddie Gomez, Art Farmer, Sal Nistico, Steve Grossman, Eddie Duran, Kirk Lightsey, Keith Copeland, Duffy Jackson, Tony Scott, Thomas Moeckel, Jim Mullen, Bruce Forman, Gene Calderazzo, Phil Lee, Gary Husband, and Alain Jean Marie.
Renato performed in most of the major venues and festivals in the UK, and since May 2002 he has played regularly in Paris, receiving warm acclaim from Jazz Hot magazine and TSF radio.
From July 2010 until March 2020 Renato has been running a very successful Monday night Upstairs at Ronnie Scott.
Jake Werth – piano: Jake has been performing throughout the UK and abroad for 13 years, attending the Royal Academy of Music and Cambridge University. His main passion is bebop, with influences spanning Cedar Walton, Bud Powell, Ahmad Jamal, Barry Harris, and many more in the rich traditions of bebop and hard-bop piano.
Lorenzo Morabito – bass: Lorenzo Morabito is an highly talented young bassist and very much present on the London Jazz Scene. Based in Northwest London, he has played all over the UK with the likes of: Alex Garnett, Mark Taylor, Rachael Cohen, John Marshall, Andrea Rinciari, and Tom Kirk.
Alfonso Vitale – drums: Alfonso Vitale was born in 1991 in Messina, Italy. He started playing the drums at the age of three and became a regular fixture at local jazz club ‘La Sosta’, sitting in with visiting veteran stars like Bobby Watson, Kenny Barron, Buster Williams, Steve Swallow, and others. In 2013 he graduated from the Conservatoire A. Corelli with a degree in classical percussion. Soon after moving to the UK, he became a regular sideman with tenor saxophonist Renato D’Aiello at Ronnie Scott's Acoustic Jazz Lounge and found a comfortable footing on the London scene. More recently Alfonso returned from a three-month sabbatical in the Big Apple, New York City, honing and extending his skills as an exponent of his stylistic passion in the style of the old jazz masters.

Renato mówi: ten wspaniały zespół składający się z czterech niezwykle utalentowanych i wrażliwych muzyków zabierze was w piękną podróż odkrywając różne muzyczne krajobrazy. Muzyka Cedara Waltona jest zakorzeniona w jazzie, ale jest również pod wpływem muzyki latynoskiej, która oferuje słuchaczowi wspaniałe połączenie rytmów i melodii. Kompozycje są wspaniałe, a struktury harmoniczne są odpowiednim terenem dla improwizacji i tworzenia pięknych klimatów. Renato D’Aiello dał się poznać jako kreator jednego z najmocniejszych i najbardziej oryginalnych brzmień saksofonu. Jego opracowania standardów jazzowych i własnych kompozycji, zarówno na żywo, jak i nagranych, przyniosły mu wielki podziw publiczności i prasy. Renato studiował u takich mistrzów jak Sal Nistico, Tony Scott, Steve Grossman i Joe Henderson. Renato występował w większości najważniejszych klubów i festiwali w Wielkiej Brytanii, a od maja 2002 roku regularnie koncertuje w Paryżu, otrzymując ciepłe recenzje magazynu Jazz Hot i radia TSF.
Od lipca 2010 do marca 2020 Renato prowadzil bardzo udany poniedziałkowy wieczór Upstairs w Ronnie Scott.
