"DUNCAN LAMONT SONGBOOK"

WITH DUNCAN LAMONT JR, ESTHER BENNETT AND DANIELA CLYNES!

This very special show features two of the London jazz scene's highly respected jazz vocalists, Esther Bennett and Daniela Clynes and Duncan Lamont Jnr who will be celebrating the legacy of his illustrious father’s song writing career.

The project will be exploring the surprisingly vast songbook of Duncan Lamont, often described as the new Cole Porter whose songs have been recorded by Natalie Cole, George Shearing, Mark Murphy and Cleo Laine amongst many others.

Blossom Dearie in a New York Times interview mentioned Duncan Lamont as one of her favourite songwriters and one of his most treasured possessions was a letter from Fred Astaire saying how much he liked Duncan’s song “Fred Astaire"!

As a saxophonist, Duncan Played with almost everyone in show business (often as a featured soloist) with Henry Mancini, Benny Goodman, Nelson Riddle, Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Bing Crosby, Count Basie, Fred Astaire, Paul McCartney…the list is endless.

In other accolades, Duncan gained great commercial success for writing the theme tune and incidental music for the children's television series "Mr Benn".

Line up:

Duncan Lamont Jnr – saxophone and flute

Esther Bennett – vocal

Daniela Clynes – vocal

John Crawford – piano

Richard Sadler – double bass

Paul Cavaciuti – drums

ESTHER BENNETT is one of the jazz scene's highly respected and widely loved vocalists, juxtaposing sensitivity with a sparky sense of humour and a musicality, gleaned from her earlier years of saxophone playing and jazz study. Esther’s debut album Just in Time was produced by multi award winning singer Ian Shaw and released in 2005. Since then, she has carved out a prestigious career as a jazz singer.

From 2010 until his passing in 2019, Esther curated “The Duncan Lamont Songbook” project, organising gigs and tours across London and the UK in which she and Duncan performed, with guest singers that included Norma Winstone and Tina May. Amongst other projects, Esther continues to perform and celebrate the songs of this world class composer, alongside his son Duncan Lamont Jnr and Vocalist Daniela Clynes.

DANIELA CLYNES is a British vocalist who has worked extensively as a jazz singer, songwriter, theatre performer and radio presenter. She has been leading bands since completing the Guildhall School of Music post-graduate jazz course in the early 1990s. Her collaborations involve an impressive array of the UK jazz artists including Michael Garrick, Ian Shaw, Django Bates and Iain Bellamy.

Daniela joined the Duncan Lamont Songbook project in 2017 and continues to perform a selection of his compositions alongside saxophonist and flautist Duncan Lamont Jnr and vocalist Esther Bennett

DUNCAN LAMONT JNR: saxophonist and flautist, arranger and composer, Duncan Lamont Jnr has followed in his father's footsteps as one of the busiest musicians in jazz. As a woodwind player he has also worked extensively in the West End, most notably in the orchestra for “Chicago".

Duncan continues the legacy of his father by musically directing a big band of his instrumental compositions and by directing and performing this songbook show, in which he also proves to have inherited his father's eloquent skills as a storyteller and raconteur!

JOHN CRAWFORD: pianist, Composer, Arranger, Author, and Teacher - John Crawford was born in London to English/Spanish Parents. His father introduced him to blues piano and his mother to Latin music. He has since gone on to be one of our leading jazz and Latin musicians. His album "Ulia River of Time" was nominated for best jazz album by the Independent Music Awards (USA). Artists he has worked with are too numerous to mention but include Airto Moreira, Norma Winstone, Duncan Lamont and Bjork!

RICHARD SADLER: bass player Richard Sadler works as a musician, composer and sound engineer playing all genres of contemporary music from jazz and blues to pop and country. He has played in major venues in UK from Queen Elizabeth Hall to Ronnie Scott's and at Jazz Festivals across the world. Studio, television and onstage session work includes with Ray Davies, Paul Weller, Jools Holland and Sir Tom Jones.

PAUL CAVACUITI is an internationally renowned performer, composer, educator and music therapist. After graduating from the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1986, he began a performance career that has encompassed a wide variety artists and musical styles, from Indie rock and pop, to jazz, fusion, Latin music and West End shows. Paul’s work as a composer has been featured on BBC Television, Jazz FM and most recently on his new album with his quartet – “Francisco’s Rhumba”

„Duncan Lamont Songbook!” z Duncanem Lamontem Juniorem, Esther Bennett i Danielą Clynes!

W tym wyjątkowym programie wystąpią dwie cenione wokalistki londyńskiej sceny jazzowej, Esther Bennett i Daniela Clynes oraz Duncan Lamont Jnr, który będzie świętować dziedzictwo kariery pisarsko/kompozytorskiej swojego znakomitego ojca.

Jako saksofonista Duncan grał z prawie wszystkimi gwiazdami show-biznesu (często jako solista) z Henrym Mancinim, Bennym Goodmanem, Nelsonem Riddlem, Peggy Lee, Frankiem Sinatrą, Tonym Bennettem, Bingiem Crosbym, Countem Basiem, Fredem Astairem, Paulem McCartneyem… lista nie ma końca.

Wśród innych wyróżnień Duncan odniósł wielki sukces komercyjny za napisanie melodii przewodniej i muzyki do serialu telewizyjnego dla dzieci „Mr Benn”.
