In the centenary year of Thelonious Monk's birth Way Out West, the London jazz collective with the most diverse musical experience, celebrates the timeless Monk legacy. One of the most original figures in jazz, Monk had an inimitable piano style, and matched this with compositions ranging from the child-like to intensely challenging. Musicians from Way Out West, joined by some of the country's finest brass soloists, will be playing arrangements of classic tunes, new compositions and some lesser known Thelonious gems.
