El Chamuyo Tango-Jazz Quartet feat. Kamila Bydlowska!

El Chamuyo Tango-Jazz Quartet will play a wide sweep of Argentinian tango music, ranging from golden era of the 1920s and '30s, through to the tango nuevo masterpieces of Piazzolla, including the famous Oblivion and Four Seasons as well as original music. All jazz flavoured! The event will be listeners and dancers friendly!

The El Chamuyo Jazz-Tango Quartet is a London based group, blurring the boundaries between tango and jazz in exciting and innovative ways. Not forgetting that this music is rooted in dance, the quartet regularly performs at milongas for tango dancers as well as jazz clubs and concert venues. Most recent performances include Bracknell Jazz, Guildford Jazz Festival, and Jamboree (London).

Kamila Bydlowska is a Polish born violinist operating across multiple genres. She performed at The Royal Albert Hall, Kioi Hall in Tokyo, iTunes Festival, Jazz Cafe in London, and has broadcast on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM (UK), WNYC (New York) and RAI (Italy).

Line up:

Kamila Bydlowska- violin

Adam Dyer - piano

Simon Cook - bandoneon

Juan Pablo Mauro - bass

Jazz pianist Adam Dyer has performed with artists including Bobby Wellins, Dan Berglund and Gregory Porter. Adam directs ensembles and teaches composition at Morley College, and has hosted a jazz radio show on Phoenix FM.

Jazz pianist and ethnomusicologist Simon Cook organizes gigs and is the house pianist at Bracknell Jazz. His other musical interests include Sundanese gamelan and early music. During lockdown he learned the bandoneon, later joining several tango ensembles.

Juan Pablo Mauro is an Argentinian bass player based in London, who works with several jazz, tango and folk bands. He keeps El Chamuyo rooted not just in the right chords, but also in the authentic tradition of tango music.
