COLTRANE AND HARTMAN ON IMPULSE! feat. DENYS BAPTISTE AND MARVIN MUONEKÈ!
Revisiting the famous album when John Coltrane teamed up with vocalist Johnny Hartman to explore their favourite romantic standards, tenor sax boss Denys Baptiste is joined by the extraordinary vocalist Marvin Muoneké and a top-flight rhythm section of Gary Crosby (bass), Alex Webb (piano) and Alfonso Vitale (drums). As well as the songs from the 1963 Impulse album, the group explores other standards that Coltrane liked to play, including All or Nothing at All, Out of This World, Say It Again and a vocal version of Moment's Notice. The original album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2013, 50 years after its release.
Marvin Muoneké has been dubbed 'The Young Man with The Old Soul’ and once you hear his voice you'll understand why – his sound has been likened to Nat 'King' Cole, Johnny Hartman and Billy Eckstine. He has toured with the award-winning swing band, Down for The Count and sung with the Vince Dunn Orchestra and NYJO (the National Youth Jazz Orchestra). He is also a gifted songwriter, arranger and trumpet player.
Time Magazine has described Denys Baptiste as an ‘icon of British jazz’. In his time, he has received the MOBO Best Jazz Act award twice, and a British Jazz Award for Rising Star. He has played and recorded with some of the biggest names in jazz and other genres including McCoy Tyner, Andrew Hill, Ernest Ranglin, Martin Taylor, Billy Higgins and many more.

Powracając do słynnego albumu, na którym John Coltrane połączył siły z wokalistą Johnnym Hartmanem aby zgłębić ich ulubione romantyczne standardy, mistrz saksofonu tenorowego Denys Baptiste dołączył do niezwykłego wokalisty Marvina Muoneké i najwyższej klasy sekcji rytmicznej Gary'ego Crosby'ego (bas), Alexa Webba (fortepian) i Alfonso Vitale'a (perkusja)! Oprócz utworów z albumu Impulse z 1963 roku, grupa bada inne standardy, które Coltrane lubił grać, w tym All or Nothing at All, Out of This World, Say It Again i wokalną wersję Moment's Notice.
Koncertował z nagradzanym zespołem swingowym Down for The Count i śpiewał z Vince Dunn Orchestra i NYJO (National Youth Jazz Orchestra). Jest również utalentowanym autorem piosenek, aranżerem i trębaczem.
Time Magazine opisał Denysa Baptiste'a jako „ikonę brytyjskiego jazzu”. W swoim czasie dwukrotnie otrzymał nagrodę MOBO Best Jazz Act oraz British Jazz Award for Rising Star. Grał i nagrywał z największymi nazwiskami jazzu i innych gatunków, w tym McCoy Tyner, Andrew Hill, Ernest Ranglin, Martin Taylor, Billy Higgins i wieloma innymi.
