A prolific composer, his son, Clark Tracey, has being paying tribute to his music since 2013, performing repertoire going back to 1950 and up to the 2000s. Clark's group features former members of Stan's groups: Simon Allen on saxes, who played in his quartet, quintet, sextet, octet and big band, and Andrew Cleyndert, Stan's bassist for the last 20 years. Clark, of course, was Stan's drummer for 35 years and was commissioned to write Stan's biography, 'The Godfather of British Jazz'. on Equinox Publishing. Playing piano and interpreting Tracey's style his own way is the formidable Gareth Williams, a powerhouse of a musician who has worked in Clark's groups for 25 years. Expect a selection of chronological compositions by Stan Tracey, including those pieces most requested by his fans over the many years.
"For me Tracey is a world-class musician whose mature and distinctive artistry - his own 'snap-crackle' - is right up there with the likes of Philly Joe Jones and Roy Haynes" - Jazz Journal 2024
