Niklas Lukassen feat. Will Vinson, Tom Cawley & Marc Michel:

Still Waters – album launch!

Renowned German born and New York seasoned bass player Niklas Lukassen presents his new album ‘Still Waters’ in a special international line up with Will Vinson on alto saxophone, Tom Cawley on piano and Marc Michel on drums!

Still Waters received remarkable international recognition, surfacing a many-layered artistic voice with a distinctive musical vision. Released on Kurt Rosenwinkel's Heartcore Records, it is a radiant display of Niklas Lukassen’s combined talents as a bassist, composer and also a vocalist. With natural improvisational flow, this group of outstanding creative individualists produces pounding waves of raw energy and explores the unimagined depths that underlie supposedly still waters.

Line up:

Will VInson - alto saxophone

Tom Cawley - piano

Niklas Lukassen - upright bass

Marc Michel – drums

Niklas Lukassen accompanied performances with artists such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Mike Stern, Jorge Rossy, Norma Winstone, Tim Garland, Jo Lawry, Will Vinson, and The New York Voices. Among the records he played on is the Grammy Award–nominated album Some Days Are Better by the Kenny Wheeler Legacy Project. He also sang in the German National Jazz Orchestra (BuJazzO). He has toured widely, performing at venues such as the Lincoln Center, John F. Kennedy Center, Southbank Centre, and the Berlin Philharmonie.

"Niklas Lukassen’s debut album Still Waters is a strong offering. I am proud to be a part of this clear vision and glistening sound. It’s a pleasure to hear some of the great musicians of the new generation playing their best. Give it a listen and you’re sure to fall into these still waters, that run deep" - Kurt Rosenwinkel

„A great bassist with very musical instincts!“ - Mike Stern

“Niklas Lukassen clearly developed his own artistic voice on his instrument and has a gift for jazz composition” - Richie Beirach
