Nette Robinson Quartet: The Chet Baker Project!
Acclaimed British jazz singer Nette Robinson presents to you her heartfelt homage to the wonderful and legendary Chet Baker.
Nette was first drawn to this cool-toned and lyrical vocalist and trumpeter whilst studying for her jazz diploma in the early 2000s. This inspired her to create her Chet Baker Project, which she has brought to audiences over many years with various talented lineups. For this event she will be joined by the fabulous Robbie Robson, Kate Williams and Mark Rose.
They will perform classic songs made famous by Chet Baker with some transcribed solos sung by Nette and others in the band!

Nette Robinson is a supremely accomplished vocalist with crystal-clear annunciation. She has been performing with numerous projects over the years, including her celebration of Duke Ellington and Count Basie with her Little Big Band. She worked with the incomparable composer, band leader and pianist Michael Garrick MBE, performing his original songs, as well as music by Bill Evans, Jaco Pastorius and Kenny Wheeler. She has performed at top London venues, including Ronnie Scott’s, 606 and Pizza Express Dean Street. She was featured on a BBC Radio 3 live broadcast with Julian Joseph. Nette is also an arranger for big band and smaller ensembles and has performed them with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and the NTJO, a big band she co-leads with husband Tony Woods.
Robbie Robson studied jazz at both Leeds and Guildhall Schools of Music, where he won prizes for Outstanding Musicianship and Composition. He was a national finalist in the Young Jazz Musician of the Year 1999, and the runner up in the Perrier Young Jazz Musician 2000. He is active on the contemporary Jazz scene in London, playing regularly at Ronnie Scott’s, The 606, the Vortex jazz clubs. He has worked with many musicians including, Sir John Dankworth and Dame Cleo Lane, Phil Woods, Jamie Cullum, and the James Taylor Quartet and recorded albums with both Bill Frisell and Steve Swallow.
Kate Williams has gained a distinctive reputation as both a performer and a composer. She has led various ensembles of her own, including the critically acclaimed Four Plus Three featuring her trio with string quartet. She won the award for best jazz album at the 2020 Parliamentary Jazz Awards for Finding Home (her collaboration with vocalist Georgia Mancio).kate-williams-quartet.com
Mark Rose is a composer, bassist, guitarist and music producer living and working in the UK. Misspent teenage years on the creative Torbay rock scene, on which global megastars Muse honed their sound, inspired and propelled bassist and guitarist Mark Rose to London in search of the world of Jazz and experimental music. Mark has now been an in-demand double bass player for 20 years, working with many of the scene’s most celebrated players. In parallel to his performing career, Mark has developed his production and composition skills through more experimental electronic pursuits and now brings together all areas of his rich musical experience running the boutique project studio ‘Rokit Studios’ in Hanwell, UK. markrose.bandcamp.com

Nette po raz pierwszy zainteresowała się tym lirycznym wokalistą i trębaczem cool jazzu podczas przygotowan do dyplomu z jazzu na początku lat 2000. Zainspirowało ją to do stworzenia Chet Baker Project, który prezentowała publiczności przez wiele lat z różnymi wybitnymi składami.
